This file is used to specify how your system will resolve hostnames.
|
|
It should contain the two lines:
|
|

multi on

These lines tell the resolve libraries to first check the
|
|
<tt>/etc/hosts</tt> file for any names to lookup, and then ask the nameserver
|
|
(if one is present). The <tt>multi</tt> entry allows you to have multiple
|
|
IP addresses for a given machine name in <tt>/etc/hosts</tt>.
